Hot gluing 4 foam core pieces made all the difference. Again, this is something that can easily be resolved in future printings should they care to do so.
The last issue is the lanterns cards. Lanterns is a marvelous game. As you might guess, I love this game, and will gladly play it any time I have the chance.

Before the farm workers can enjoy the literal fruits of their labor, it is time for the Festival of the Lanterns, celebrating the harvest! During the festival, families and friends gather at the edge of a huge lake to watch as artisans release hundreds of colorful lanterns across the surface of the water.
As one of those artisans, you must compete with your fellow craftsmen to put on the best display and earn the most honor before the end of the festival!
Lanterns: The Harvest Festival is a set collection game, where players add tiles to an ever-growing lake in order to claim the titular Lantern cards.
By collecting certain sets of different cards, a player can gain points by showing his or her Dedication to the craft. Will you be the most dedicated and honorable artisan?
There are only a few different kinds of components to keep track of in Lanterns. First and foremost are the Lantern cards, which come in 7 different colors orange, green, purple, white, blue, red, and black , 8 of each.
Then there are Lake tiles, which show lanterns of one of the seven colors on each of the four edges, and occasionally have a platform in the middle depicting symbols like dragons, pandas, flowers, or fish.
Then there are three varieties of dedication tokens in varying values, which will be described later, and finally there are several round Favor tokens which depict the Chinese character for collecting or gathering.
To set up the game, separate the Lantern cards by color, and also separate the Dedication tokens and arrange them in stacks of descending value. Deal out 3 Lake tiles to each player and put the rest with a number determined by the number of players into a draw pile.
The Lake tile featuring a boat is placed in the center of the table, and each player takes a Lantern card matching the color of the Lake tile facing them.
The fact that placing a tile nets your opponents cards can play into your thinking. Since you could be handing them enough cards to get a dedication.
You also want to keep an eye out for opportunities to match as many colors as possible, or get as many tokens as possible with platforms.
On the surface it is a simple game, but it has a few layers that a discerning player can utilize for victory. When you are done, you will have a unique piece of art to enjoy.
I like taking a picture of it before putting the game away. Pretty much everyone that has played it has enjoyed it. Personally, I think it is well worth the money.
Buy it, and enjoy it with your friends and family. One person found this helpful. You place tiles and get cards if Lanterns plays sort of like dominoes.
You place tiles and get cards if you match colors and get bonus cards for the color that points to you downwards.
There is a good amount of strategy as you get points for getting one of each color, 3 two of a kinds or 1 set of four of a kind.
Once a color card runs out, you can place tiles to prevent others from getting a free card. I'm doing a terrible job of explaining this game, so I would recommend checking out Board Game Geek or your favorite YouTube video of how its played.
Very chill vibe. Game doesn't last too long with 2 players. Can't wait to play with more people as I see how it could get a little more competitive.
Great for couples looking for a light game. Lanterns is a beautiful, light tile layer that my wife really enjoys good thing, I bought it specially for her!
The strategy is not brain-burning at all, but the set collection makes for a fun competition as you try to grab the honor tokens for more points.
In two players it's a bit deterministic and if you can stay ahead of the other player you will always be grabbing the more valuable tokens.
Still enjoyable: a nice mix of Tokaido and Carcassonne two of our favorite gateways. I'd be interested to play with four players, and especially three, as I feel the increased competition for tiles makes for a much stronger game.
Recommended, looking forward to more plays. So, easy to learn and some good depth. My 11 year old loves strategy games and didn't want to play this because it seemed too easy or too light.
To be clear this is not a deep strategy game, but it has enough that my year-old really like it and asks to play it.
My wife says: a chill game that has a bit of competition to it. On a random turn you collect one card Cards are used to make sets.
Sets award points like in rummy and your competitors do as well. Where the strategy is that with planning and a bit of luck you can have turns where you collect 2, 3, 4, and in rare cases 5 cards while your competitors just collect the one.
That's the fun. Setting yourself up in a way where you're turning sets in every turn and your competitors cannot.
Fun simple strategy game. The artwork is beautiful. Once you read the directions, it's pretty easy to understand.
I think my 7 year old could play it, but she wouldn't get the different types of strategy you could use to beat your opponent in the end.
My wife and I enjoy it and I've enjoyed it in a group too. It's one of the better games out there in terms of strategy games for people who aren't into the ones that take hours and involve really deep-seeded strategy to it.
Lanterns is a really fun little game that doesn't take long to play. It's easy to learn and to teach to others. You do compete against others but it's not an overly competitive game.
The more relaxed aesthetics really help with that. Blue has three different sets of different shades. Red has for dots of the same shade. Then the gray one just has 4 on it.
Each set of these will have different numbers on it. These are how you earn points in the game. Lastly, the start player token and favor token are chunky wood components.
You want one person on each side of the table, this will make game play a little easier to follow. Depending player count, the number of cards will be reduced.
Four players use all the lantern cards. Three players use 7 of each color. Two players use 5 cards. Four players uses 32 tiles.
Three players use 27 tiles. Two players use 12 tiles. Next, deal three lake tiles to each player. Use al dedication tokens for four players.
Three player games will remove the tokens with 4 dots on them. Two player games will remove the tokens with 4 and 3 dots on it.
Spin it a couple of times, center it and have each side facing a player. Flip it over. The player the red lanterns are facing will be first player.
